Why Observe Ash Wednesday?
A Call to Humility and Repentance
Ash Wednesday reminds us of our frailty and deep need for God’s grace. The ashes on our foreheads symbolize our mortality—"for dust you are, and to dust you will return" (Gen. 3:19). Yet, acknowledging our sin and brokenness, we are drawn into God’s mercy and the hope of redemption.
Reorienting Our Hearts to Christ
In a world that often distracts us with temporary comforts, Ash Wednesday and the season of Lent invite us to reflect on what truly satisfies us. By fasting or setting aside distractions, we confront the idols in our hearts and remember that our deepest thirst is quenched only by the Living Water—Jesus Christ (Jer. 2:13).
Preparing for the Joy of Easter
Lent is not about sorrow without hope but about preparing our hearts to embrace the resurrection's victory fully. As we reflect on Christ’s suffering and sacrifice, we anticipate the empty tomb, rejoicing in the core of our faith: “He is not here; He has risen!” (Luke 24:6).
Whether you have observed Ash Wednesday before or are considering it for the first time, we invite you to join us in this journey of reflection, repentance, and renewal.
